Acupuncture originated in China over 5000 years ago but over the past 30 years has become more popular in the United States. Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely thin needles in the skin at specific points along the body. Traditional Chinese Medicine theory explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of vital energy, known as qi, believed to flow through pathways in your body. By inserting needles into points along these pathways energy flow will be rebalanced. This in turn will help to alleviate symptoms and promote overall health.
